Who Is ECCU?

Energy Capital Credit Union, or ECCU for short, is a Not-For-Profit Organization offering a full-suite of financial products.

At ECCU, our main purpose is to provide our members with the tools they need to realize their dreams. Whether you are hoping to save money, buy a home, or purchase your first car, we want to help you grow to accomplish your goal.

Our History

In 1934, a small group of Humble Oil Employees came together to form what would become Energy Capital Credit Union. At the time, loan sharks were the main source of financing, and our founders decided to lend to each other to help free one another from the harsh lending practices.

Today we serve anyone who lives, works, worships, attends school or any business entity located in Harris, Montgomery, Liberty, Brazoria, Fort Bend and Waller County, Texas.  We are over 19, 000 members strong and growing!

The Credit Union Difference

When you become a member at ECCU, you own a share of the credit union. What does this mean for you?
  • We pay you dividends instead of paying stockholders like other corporations do.
  • Our board of directors are volunteers that are voted for by you! This means they make decisions to help our members instead of filling their pockets.
  • You are a member-owner, so you get to vote and have a say in how the credit union functions.
